Another tractor show shot - old friends
meeting. She looks bored!
I suppose vertical balance is also a con-
sideration, but I wasn't sure how to rep-
resent it on a horizontal scale.
These people were waiting for the
tractor-pull to start.
Another dull day. I like symmetry.
The worlds greatest photographic
cliche! It was raining, which helps to
accentuate the dark foreboding nature
of the castle, balanced by the dark
mountain on the left.
This view of the Grand Hotel from the
harbour seems to balance quite well,
with the three small items on the right
countering the diving lady on the left.

This is not an exercise I have ever done before, and I really struggled with it. Most of my photos don't appear to me to have any balance, so it's obviously something I haen't given much thought to in composing pictures in the past. As such, it's been a good exercise, and will help me to get away from the "bird in the middle of the frame" mentality that I hoped for on this course.
I agree that some images with points of interest were easier to "balance" than others, but placing the fulcrum on the middle of the line doesn't seem quite right with some images. I haven't even tried to balance colour or lines etc., just shapes.
